Oleg, EI7KD will be operating from North Bull Island (EIFF-026) on March 10 starting from 14 GMT on most HF bands both CW and SSB. He will be running 100W into a vertical multiband antenna on a sandy beach near the sea.
Location: These two reserves are situated in the northern part of Dublin Bay within the boundaries of Dublin City and only 8km from the city centre.
Area (ha.): 118 Privately owned; 1,318 State owned.
Animals and Plants of Interest: The island is covered with dune grassland. An extensive salt marsh lies to the northwest and at extreme low tides there are extensive mud flats between the island and the mainland. The reserves are of international scientific importance for Brent Geese and also on botanical, ornithological, zoological and geomorphological grounds.

On Sunday, November 20th EI6DX will be active from The Glen of The Downs Nature reserve. Vertical antenna will be used. It tunes well on 15 and 40 metres. All contacts will count towards World Flora and Fauna programme – reference number: EIFF-071. The operation will begin after 12:00 in the afternoon.

Location: Mostly on the eastern side of the Avonmore River
Area (ha.): 220.57
A large area of fragmented oak-wood. It contains the largest area of semi-natural woodland in Co. Wicklow and is potentially one of the largest stands of native hardwoods in the country. The area has been at least partially under woodland since the Ice Age. The oak-woods are also of high scenic value. Established 1983. State owned.

EI6DX will participate in the activation of rare IOTA in June as part of Ms0INT crew.The 2011 IOTA team includes Col MM0NDX, Christian EA3NT, Ramon EA3OR, Raul EA5KA, Stan EI6DX, Vincent F4BKV and Simon IZ7ATN.
All highly experienced island activators, it is planned the MSØINT team will put Benbecula, South Uist, Grimsay, Baleshare, North Uist, Berneray, St Kilda and Monach Isles on the air between June 14 – 20, 2011.

This Easter weekend, Oleg (EI7KD) will be operating from North Bull Island (EIFF-026) and Baldoyle Estuary Nature Reserve (EIFF-025). He will be working on most HF bands, except WARCs and 160 – both CW and SSB. Oleg will be running 100W into a vertical multiband antenna. Look for him from 22, 23, 24 and 25th of April from these two areas. EIFF-025 is the first activation of the Baldoyle Estuary.
About Baldoyle Estuary Nature Reserve
Location: A tidal bay situated north east of Dublin city. Established 1988. State owned.
Area (ha.): 203
Animals and Plants of Interest: Baldoyle is of international importance as a wintering area for Brent Geese. Wading birds that winter at Baldoyle include black-tailed Godwits, Redshanks and Curlews. When the tide comes in, fish enter the estuary and become prey for diving birds like the Great-crested Grebe and the Red-breasted Merganser.

Oleg, EI7KD will be operating from North Bull Island (EIFF-026) today (April 16) starting from 14 GMT on most HF bands, except WARCs and 160 – both CW and SSB. He will be running 100W into a vertical multiband antenna on a sandy beach near the sea. Depending on the weather he might be back in North Bull tomorrow, April 17th.

Oleg, EI7KD will be testing portable antennas for the Gagarin Cup and operating from North Bull island. Very short activation of the EIFF-026 that will be repeated during the summer months.

Unfortunately we are experiencing severe weather in the East of Ireland with with gusts of wind reaching 60 MPH. As a result activation of the Wicklow Moutains National Park this coming weekend is cancelled.
Another attempt to work from EIFF-006 will be undertaken later this month.
